Deleting your account

Delete it yourself, in the app
Open Oath, go to Account, and tap Delete account. Oath will ask you to confirm twice. It takes effect at once and cannot be undone.
Deleting needs an internet connection. If you are offline the app will tell you and nothing will be deleted.
If you cannot get into the app
Email waystudio.apps@gmail.com from the email address you signed in with, with the subject "Delete my Oath account". We will confirm within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days. The in-app route is faster and does the same thing.
Before you delete
- Cancel your subscription first if you have one. Google sells and bills the subscription, not us, so deleting your Oath account does not cancel or refund it, and Google will still take the next payment. Cancel in the Google Play Store under Subscriptions.
- Consider dissolving your Pact instead if what you want is to leave the Pact rather than lose your account. Deleting ends the Pact either way, but dissolving it in the app leaves your account, and your history, intact.
- Signing back in later starts you over. If you sign in again with the same Google account, you get a brand-new, empty Oath account: a new invite code, no Pacts, and no history. Nothing is recovered.
- You are not locked in. Deletion works while an app is sealed and while you are mid-disagreement with your partner. We do not withhold it to keep you in a Pact, and your partner cannot veto it.
What gets deleted
- Your account record: display name, email address, profile photo URL, and user ID.
- Your notification token.
- Every Pact you are part of, along with its rules and its breach history, including the copy your partner sees.
- Any keys granted or received, and any unused invite codes.
- Your subscription entitlement record on our servers.
- Your sign-in credential.
What is not ours to delete
- Everything on your phone. Your app usage statistics, focus sessions, and settings live only on your device and were never sent to us. Uninstalling Oath removes them. You can also clear them at any time in Android Settings under Apps, Oath, Storage.
- Your purchase record at Google. Google Play is the seller and keeps its own record of transactions for its accounting and tax obligations. Request that through Google.
A note about your partner
A Pact is a shared record, so deleting your account ends it for both of you. Your partner's copy of the rules and the breach history goes with it. They keep their own account and can form a new Pact.
They are told, and they keep a record that names you. Their phone receives a notice reading "Your Pact has ended. [your name] deleted their Oath account.", and a short marker of that ending stays in their history. We keep it on purpose. Their phone needs it to close the Pact and lift any block it was still holding, and a marker with no name would leave them guessing who had gone. It holds your display name and nothing else: no email address and no way to reach you.
If you would rather leave without that, dissolve the Pact in the app first and delete your account afterwards.
